Yadira Calderon

Yadira is an undergraduate student completing her B.S. degree in Earth Systems. Their passion in ecology ignited after interning with the local organization Grassroots Ecology, where they gained hand-on experience in environmental restoration. This interest deepened further as a community ecology research assistant at the Fukami Lab, where Yadira enhanced her scientific skills and understanding of ecological dynamics. Currently, Yadira is exploring her interests in regional planning and urban ecology, aiming to integrate her knowledge of Earth systems into applications in land management before applying to graduate school. Outside of academics, Yadira thrives on adventure and creativity. Yadira can be found outdoors exploring the Bay Area, updating her iNaturalist, finding geocaches, or challenging herself at skate parks. Or she can be found indoors baking, investing time in creative craft projects, or spending time with friends and her two cats.
