Conservation Technician

Bohdan Kamets

I was born and raised in the foothills of the Carpathian Mountains in the west of Ukraine. For the past couple of years, I have been working in Professor Dirzo’s lab at Stanford University. Our research group is focusing on species interactions as well as on forest regeneration. Personally, I am interested in restoration of degraded ecosystems. In the future, I am hoping to use my knowledge and skills to help rebuild natural protected areas of Ukraine that were destroyed by the invasion of my home country.

I am a docent at both Jasper Ridge Biological Preserve and Año Nuevo State Park and, when time permits, I volunteer at the Wildlife Center of Silicon Valley. When it rains here in CA I love going on mushroom foraging expeditions.
