About the Stanford HCP Project
Stanford worked with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) to prepare a Habitat Conservation Plan (HCP). The HCP includes measures to protect covered species, and enhance habitat on Stanford lands.
The primary goals of the plan are to stabilize or increase the populations of these species and enhance their habitats on Stanford land, and provide Stanford with assurances that its long-term operation of the University complies with the Federal Endangered Species Act. These activities will ultimately benefit the covered species and other local species that share habitat with federally protected species.
The USFWS prepared an Environmental Impact Statement for the incidental take permit and HCP in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act.
